Large Gold Leaf Mirror
The gold leaf mirror is part of a mid–nineteenth century set donated to the Nacogdoches University Building by Rev. Roscoe C. Hauser. The mirrors are believed to be of French origin once belonging to Empress Carlotta (1840-1927). The Empress ruled in Mexico for a short time from 1864 to 1867 with her husband Archduke Maximillian who was appointed Mexican President by Napoleon. Political differences cut their reign short, and the mirror is said to have been turned over to the Mexican government.
