Dining Room Mantel South Wall

The mantel on the south wall in the dining room was donated by the Phillips family in memory of Frederick Voigt. Voigt was a regent for Nacogdoches University in the 1870s and was the Postmaster General of the Confederacy and was one of the first people to form a company in Nacogdoches, Texas. He was also credited for landscaping the university grounds and maintaining the building, all while serving as a trustee of the University.
